Help: Weaving goddesses and ladies who weave

bookofstars:

Because of RIDICULOUS FANART REASONS I need to know more things about weaving goddesses or ladies who weave! I have found SOME INFORMATION, but I thought I would ask my followers anyway, just in case. I am particularly interested in VISUAL REPRESENTATIONS of these ladies, but failing that a STORY would be great too. Do you know of any ladies who fit this description? Do you know of any pieces of art that feature them?

I only really know about the Greek side of things, but the story of Arachne and Athena is very much about this! If you search for “Arachne” you are going to get tons of pictures of spiders and/or spider-ladies, but there are definitely reasonable numbers of vase paintings and whatnot out there!

Also, Penelope, wife of Odysseus, weaving and unweaving a burial shroud!
